Uly's Blog

Hi I'm Uly.

I have read a book called "What Is Your Dream?" if I translate the Japanese title into English. This book is about children's lives in poverty in Asia. Have you read this book? My favourite baseball player mentioned this book on his blog, so that is how I knew this book, and why I bought the book!

One of the things I leaned new is that we should be aware of the cost of transporting aids when we come to want to help. I once, brought my old clothes for a charity, but I didnt understand the important point of the charity at that time. Since transporting itself costs a lot, we shouldn't give stuff when we cannot raise money for the transporting. In the book, it is also said that when it comes to clothes, the cost is even higher bcz they have to be disinfested, and packed. and when the aids are transported from such a rich country like Japan, they try to charge much more tax on the aids.

When I brought my clothes for the charity, I thought I was doing good thing, but it was not enough to make the world betta. This is very the 'why' we shouldn't take action without thinking. We should act with logical resons if we want to be responsible and appropriate to help one another.

You did what you thought was right.
Better send clothes than do nothing, right?
    Well, it's what I think.

    Hello~!
You seem to think seriously about poor countries. When I was a elemtary student, I also sent my old clothes to the poor country and thought I did a good thing. BUT as I read your writing, I thought it is not enough. I thought we have to think it more seriously. Well, I think you can get a job to help poor people. If you have a job like that, it is sure that you can help many many people!

Anyway, yes, it's really curious that I've never taught by American teachers. I heard that most teachers in KGU are Americans. I want to be taught by American someday!

Hmm.. It seems like there is always some intermediary making everything more expensive. Heard some examples from Norwegian aid where 50% the money collected is lost to administration alone...

And how did it go with the interview? Heard anything from them yet?

    Good night!

Gosh, it all sounds so confusing. I've started donating all of my cans and bottles to homeless people. In Canada, there is a deposit paid on all cans and bottles, and when people are finished with them, they can take them to a bottle depot and get some money for them (like 5 cents or something each). Anyway, I think I agree with bernat . . . we all have to try and do something, it's better than nothing.

    Hello Yuri,
I always you know you had a wonderful heart and I am glad to see that you are still sharing your warmth and love with other people. I hope you are well and I have been trying to contact you. I hope that you will write me back and at least tell me that you are alright. Take care of yourself and I hope to hear from you soon.
